These features include coding enhancements such as using SGE while browsing, identification layers in SGE responses, and color-coded syntax highlighting within SGE responses.

Using SGE While Browsing

Google SGE is now available for browsing on Chrome desktop or the Google app on iOS or Android. When navigating a web page, you can ask Google SGE to generate the main points of the page. Google SGE will summarize the web page you are browsing. This feature will work on “some web pages,” meaning it may not work on all content on the web.

Won’t Work With Paid Content

SGE is not allowed to run when browsing paid content. It will be the case if you are using structured data.

Other Ways Out

Google has stated that no custom meta tag exists to allow SGE to summarize your content as you browse. Using paywall structured data will prevent SGE from digesting your content, but there is currently no alternative to avoid this if you don’t.

Indexing

Google stated that for SGE to work while browsing, a page must be in the Google index. So, if you prevent any page from being indexed, you also stop this feature from working.

SGE Definitions

Google now offers definitions for specific words in AI-generated responses with SGE. “Hovering over certain words will be able to preview definitions and see diagrams or images on the subject,” Google said.

Code Updates in SGE

SGE is improving the way it shows code in its responses. Google has stated that code snippets will be colored with syntax highlighting, so we can more easily identify keywords, comments, and strings.

Why Is This Development Important?

A.I. rapidly evolves in the search space, and SGE is one of the most prominent players. Bringing SGE to web browsers is a big step towards bringing Bing Chat closer to the Edge sidebar feature. This can allow your readers to understand your content better, gain insight into how Google SGE understands your content, and consume other content faster.

On the other hand, with the SGE feature, while browsing, it seems possible to say that Google aims to allow users to spend less time on sites. If you notice, other related searches are specified in the lower part of the SGE feature when navigating on the right. In summary, Google is trying to motivate you to perform your next search while summarizing the contents of the site you browse.

Google is introducing new Search Generative Experience (SGE) features, including navigation, descriptions, and color-coded syntax.

[1261

post-11819","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-seo
["GET
